MIDO Exhibition and More

On February 28th Mr Gino Trigatti (C&W Managing Director) and Mr John Shepherd (C&W Accountant) attended MIDO, the largest international optics, optometry and ophthalmology exhibition held annually in Milan, Italy. It is a meeting place for making contacts and discovering the latest market trends in eyewear and the specialised machinery available to enable us to produce quality frames here in Australia. Significantly, Europe is trending away from the mass produced frames from India and China and moving towards independent manufacturers with France and Italy leading the charge.  Mr Trigatti believes the unique Australian Clive & Wally Eyewear brand, in terms of style and quality, is right up there with the best of Europe.

NEW OUTLETS: Since the rebirth of Optex as Clive & Wally, our intention has been to establish a website where optometrists are able to access our ever expanding range of frames. The growth has been truly heartening, with outlets in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and most recently and excitingly, Western Australia.  Further, members of the public are encouraged to access the web site, note code and colour and visit their nearest outlet to have their prescriptions filled.  It is important to note that C&W frames are warranted for 2 years from the manufacture and C&W offer to repair damaged frames at minimal cost, a service unique in the industry.

PLASTICS: C&W has now secured ongoing supplies of plastic acetate from the world’s leading acetate manufacturers, Eleung out of Hong Kong, Jin Yu out of Korea and now also using Mazzuchelli, established in 1849 in the village of Castiglione Olona, Italy.  The basis of all C&W frames is our range of colours and combinations. From the ever popular basic black and tortoise shell to a myriad of beautiful subtle tones to daring primary colours, there is something to suit every taste and budget.

MACHINERY: The machinery used to manufacture C&W frames is produced mainly in Europe and is extremely specialised. The aim is to update machinery as required to keep pace with anticipated demand into the future.

The Deputy Premier of NSW Troy Grant MP visits Clive & Wally Eyewear

The Deputy Premier of NSW Troy Grant MP recently visited the new Clive & Wally Eyewear manufacturing facility in Dubbo.

“Clive & Wally Eyewear is the last spectacle manufacturer left in Australia. Sadly, the rest have shut down, unable to compete with cheap imports from overseas.” Mr. Grant said. “Gino and John who acquired the business as it was about to close its doors, have injected new life into the business moving it into a purpose-built facility in Dubb and employing Dubbo locals. Show your support for a local Australian manufacturer and wear Clive & Wally products with pride.”
